17 days to go, and we chose a lovely little bat. We adore bats, and are thrilled that these helpful and necessary creatures are one of several animal symbols of this wonderful holiday of Halloween. How is it we are lucky enough that bats are associated with this time of year?
According to Nate Fuller of Boston University “in the mid 1800s, Irish and Scottish immigrants who brought their early pre-Halloween traditions to the United States would have seen the bats swarming around this time and begun to associate the unusual winged creatures with the fall holiday.” Because of this – and also because people are typically afraid of bats – they become connected with Halloween.
Not only is this little bat adorable, but is also scented with the spices of October. Keep this as a companion piece to the tombstone soap from day 11!
