EXQUISITE CORPSE – a drawing event
Friday • March 29th 2024 | Doors at 7:00pm • Drawing starts at 7:30pm | $5. | 21+
What is an “Exquisite Corpse?” – “A Victorian parlor game in which each participant takes turns writing or drawing on a sheet of paper, folding it to conceal his or her contribution, and then passing it to the next player for a further contribution.”*
Revolution Gallery has gathered artists to partake in the Third Annual Exquisite Corpse – A Drawing Event!
Participating artists – Amanda Besl, Jonathan Bishop, Toni Digati, Chris Galley, Mara Giambrone, Derek Hendrickson, Philip Longson, Michael Mararian, Phil McAndrew, MJ Myers, OMIT, Carolyn Perillo, Kelly Reed, Todd Sullivan, Chuck Tingley, Sky Vance, Joe Völlan, Autumn Zaionz
This time is a bit different – 6 teams of 3 artists, and only ONE round, with three drawing sessions in this round! Drawing starts at 7:30pm, and artists will get 30 minutes to create their section of the Exquisite Corpse. After ~90 minutes of drawing, the final drawings will be revealed, and auctioned, with a portion of the funds to benefit The PRIDE CENTER OF WNY.
We also welcome The Traveling Museum of Memento Mori to this event. Guests will be able to see and interact with artifacts from the Victorian mourning era (with some items over 150 years old!). Jewelry and artwork made of human hair, “tear catchers,” clothing, spirit photos, coffin plaques, and even post-mortem photos will be on display to remind ourselves of memento mori… someday we must die.
Live drawings, art in the gallery, drinks at our bar, and a traveling Victorian museum!
