Co-led by Mark Filsinger and Elliot Scozzaro, this chord-less ensemble features entirely new original compositions in the bebop idiom.
 
Trumpeter, educator, and composer, Mark Filsinger has been a staple of the jazz community since returning to Western New York in 2012. His groups have been featured at various venues throughout the area including the Historic Lewiston and Queen City Jazz Festivals. In addition to leading his own groups, Mark has performed with national touring Broadway shows, ensembles, and artists including The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Don Menza Big Band, and Johnny Mathis.
 
After earning a Ph.D. from the Eastman School of Music, Mark joined the faculty at SUNY Buffalo State. As a leader in the field of jazz education, he has presented jazz education workshops around the United States and Europe.
 
Elliot Scozzaro is a saxophonist and educator from Buffalo, NY. Elliot received a Master of Music in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas, where he played lead alto saxophone in the seven time Grammy-nominated One O’ Clock Lab Band. While at UNT, Elliot also served as a Teaching Fellow of Saxophone, directed the Five O’ Clock Lab Band, and studied under Brad Leali.
 
Elliot was named a semi-finalist in the North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Competition in 2016. Throughout 2018, Elliot played second alto saxophone in the renowned Glenn Miller Orchestra, directed by Nick Hilscher. Additionally, he has performed at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, the Northwest Jazz Festival, and the Columbus Jazz and Ribs Festival.
