Silver or brass… which skeleton hand charm did you get in your Halloween Countdown box?

And why do we associate skeletons with Halloween? Yet another symbol of this holiday harkens back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, where skeletons were an eerie reminder of the netherworld, human mortality, and / or death.

And there is a sense of mystery with skeletons – such as our internal structure, which is meant to be hidden, makes it more spooky or unsettling when we do see them. 

Skeletons are fearful yes, but also hopeful, made to even be playful — much like our Halloween decorations today.
